young woman's hands

We know there’s a big difference between adult skin and baby skin, but have you ever realized just how much you’ve aged when you look at a baby? Baby hands are plump and hide even the most prominent bones of the hand! While we don’t want baby hands, we do love the effect that more youthful hands can give us. If you’ve been taking care of the skin on your face with perfectly tailored products and effective treatments, why let your hands give away how old you are? After all, our hands do so much work and spend a lot of time in the sun, so they deserve some love.

Keep reading to learn how certain treatments can be used to counteract the look of old hands, and learn which ones might be best for you

Dermal Fillers

The dermal fillers used to add a youthful plumpness to our faces can also be used to fill the look of deflated, older hands. There are many options when it comes to dermal fillers, and those used in hand rejuvenation may include autologous fat, collagen, hyaluronic acid, calcium hydroxylapatite and poly-L-lactic acid.

Fillers are safely injected into the back of the hands to hide tendons and joints, giving your hands a more plump and youthful appearance. These treatments can be as short as a half hour and can last for up to a year. Keep in mind that your hands move more than your face, so treatments may need to be repeated more frequently to keep your results optimal.

Depending on what you’re looking for, we may recommend one treatment over another, to enhance the results.

Palomar Icon

Laser treatments might also be helpful in adding a more youthful look to your hands. The Palomar Icon system combines a fractional laser and intense pulsed light (IPL) technology to help rejuvenate skin effectively. This system might also help turn back the clock on aging hands by helping reverse the signs of:

  • Age spots
  • Uneven skin tone and/or texture
  • Sun damage

If you’re interested in more youthful hands to match your youthful face, don’t hesitate to give us a call at (610) 789-6701 to schedule a consultation with Dr. Lee today.
